Asking A Mage For Water

“Before I begin: you’d think that a guide about asking nicely wouldn’t be needed, but apparently.

A Mage is a unique class in the fact that it can conjure (or, for those of us who don’t speak English very well, make, create. ) food and water using a simple spell. Not only that, but they can also create portals to all of their factions major cities (aka. capitals). Since these abilities are specific to the Mage, combined with the fact that they are very useful abilities, makes these “”services”" high in demand. However, it is not certain that any Mage will be willing to give you food/water or make a portal. However, if you know how to ask, you might just find a Mage willing to help you! What follows is a short guide to (hopefully) getting some food/water or a portal! Most of it is common sense and normal decency, but some people just seem to lack it.

The Golden Rule of Asking A Mage For Water, Food or a Portal To Your Favorite Town: BE NICE!!! This can not be emphasised enough! It’s common decency, and applies to everyone in WoW and in real life! Being nice will get you into (most) guilds (or at least gives you a better chance. ), increases the likely-hood that you’ll get invited to an instance/raid, makes you get on peoples friend list, etc etc. And above all, it drastically increases the chance that a Mage will be willing to provide you with what service you want.

If the Mages does not want anything to do with you, don’t take it personally (most of the time. )! Some Mages have had bad experiences with people pestering and spamming them for food/water/portal, and will simply ignore any such requests. Just move on, and find yourself another Mage. If you’re in a well populated area, chances are that there’s at least one Mage around. buy wow gold

Some Mages will request money in exchange for their services. cheap wow gold Conjuring food/water does not cost us anything, but a portal requires a regent called “”Rune of Portal”", which costs 20 silver to buy, or, if you have the Honored Discount, 18 silver. Thus, most Mages will ask for at least that amount for making a portal for you. However, some Mages charge even more, and sometimes want some money for making food and water as well. mp3 One of the justifications for this is that, for example, when you craft a sword for someone or provide most other services, you not only pay for the materials, but also usually give them a bit more money, so that they can make a profit. It’s the same thing in real life. When you buy a can of Cola, you not only pay what it cost to produce the thing, but you pay more, so that the evil corporation of Coca-Cola, Inc. wow gold can make a buck or two more! Thus, some Mages feel that we should charge for the time it takes us to conjure up whatever you want.

Another reason why Mages charge is to get back at all you people who charge a ridiculous amount of gold for the tomes we need to learn the highest rank of conjure water/food. wow gold damn profiteers!

If you give a tip to the Mage, even though the Mage is not asking for any sum of money, then you, sir, are a very nice person!

Even giving something small, like a buff, in return is always appreciated!

Please, if you see us fighting a bunch of mobs, don’t just pop up a trade window and expect us to give you free water/food! Wait till we are not busy, and even then, ask before opening a trade window!

The Golden Rule of Asking A Mage For Water, Food or a Portal To Your Favorite Town: BE NICE!!!

To avoid the embarrassment of asking a level 58 Mage for a portal to Shattrath City, learn when we can learn our portal spells! To save you time, here’s the list: At level 40, Alliance Mages learn the portal spells for Ironforge, Stormwind City and The Exodar. At level 50 the learn to make a portal for Darnassus. wow gold For Horde Mages, at level 40, we can make portals to Orgrimmar, Undercity and Silvermoon City, and at level 50, Thunder Bluff. At level 65 (note: 65) ALL Mages, regarless of faction, can learn to make a portal to Shattrath City.

Earn an Exclusive Mount with the New WoW Recruit-A-Friend

“Blizzard has just released their new marketing for their recruit-a-friend program and this one is quite interesting. First of all you recruit a friend into WoW and if they pay for 60 days of subscription time (after their 30 days free) then you gain 30 days free WoW Gametime. That hasn’t changed from the past. The cool thing is once per hour your and your new friend will be able to summon to each other to make it easier to play together. This is something I kind of wish they would add to most of your friends. What’s new and interesting about this program is that when your friend joins, they will be “”tied”" to your account as a recruit. So when you and your friend group together for the first 90 days you bother will earn TRIPLE the experience as normal. Also whenever your friend earns two levels in the game, they can grant ANY of your characters (that are lower level than your friend’s) a free level. Last but not least, once they pay for their 2 months, you get a new exclusive Zherva mount for your character to ride, that I thinkis pretty sweet. While I agree with the free game time, the summoning, and the new spiffy mount - I have some serious qualms about the triple experience and free levels and I’ve yet to see Blizzard’s response on how they might deal with people abusing this new system. Although with the new system I’d expect some new speed records getting broken for the 1-70 mark. BlizzCon Goody Bag Sneak Preview As if Blizzcon wasn’t tempting enough, the WorldofWarcraft. com site has a few items from the goody bag posted for you as a teaser of all the awesome things to come from this anticipated event. Half of the goody bags handed out will contain the bubble-hearth ball, while the other half will have. Frostmourne. The very name of Arthas’s runeblade strikes terror into hearts across Azeroth. And I am growing more and more unsatisfied with a system which “”balances”" classes by making them strong in one of these games and weak in another. Problem is that not all of these sub-games are optional. mp3 You can’t skip solo PvE in a game like World of Warcraft, because it isn’t designed to allow leveling by PvP, and you simply can’t find a group all the time to level up. So classes like tanks and healers that are “”balanced”" by making them must-have in groups and worst possible in solo PvE suffer inevitably. DPS classes might have a more difficult time to get an invite into a group, but not all of them even want to group; or they are quite content to only get an invite to one raid per week, while participation is mandatory for every raid for the tanks and healers. wow gold The makers of Warhammer Online explained a while ago that every race will have a tank, a healer/support class, a melee dps, and a ranged dps class. With 6 races that originally made 24 classes, but 4 of them have been cut and won’t be in the release on September 18. Nevertheless the basic philosophy appears to be exactly the same as in World of Warcraft. wow gold The tank will deal less damage as the melee dps class, and the healer’s damage spell will be less powerful than that of the range dps class. And I wonder how that will be balanced. I have a sneaking suspicion that we won’t have 25% tanks, 25% healers, and 50% damage dealers, but that 60% to 80% of players will prefer playing a dps class. wow gold After all, WAR is a PvP (sorry, RvR) game, and in PvP tanking is significantly less useful than in lets say raiding. And healing in PvP is nice to get, but ultimately optional for the receiver (because of quick respawns), and a death sentence for the healer. Who wants to be always the first to die.

Trivial WoW

”I’m all for B-Movies and other eclectic references, so when I came across this I was thoroughly amused. I do not know how many people have taken note of some of the things I’m going to list for you from a site I like called the Internet Movie Database, but it does have an entertainment factor. With this in mind if anyone else has some interesting references such as these I’d love to compile more for everyone’s viewing pleasure. It definately shows us that Blizzard’s developers have a great sense of humor. So without futher adieu… One of the mini-bosses of the Defias Brotherhood in Westfall is named Benny Blaanco which refers to the gang leader of the same name in the movie Carlito’s Way. There is a lumberjack in Elwynn Forest named Terry Palin. Terry Jones and Michael Palin were members of Monty Python who (among many others) were famous for the Lumberjack Song. The three bankers in Stormwind are named Olivia, Newton and John named after the ’80s singer Olivia Newton-John. Postmaster Malown drops the item “”Malown’s Slam”" referring to NBA star Karl ‘The Mailman’ Malone. The item “”Six Demon Bag”" is a nod to John Carpenter’s Big Trouble in Little China: sorcerer Egg Shen’s (Victor Wong) Six-Demon Bag has the power to blast enemies with “”wind, fire, all that kind of thing!”" The island off the coast of Dustwallow Marsh is called Alcaz, and even contains a huge gate like prison. Referring of course to world famous Alcatraz Island in San Francisco harbor. Sentinel Hill (the central militia base in Westfall) is also where Yog-Sothoth is summoned in the H.P. Lovecraft story, The Dunwich Horror. In the newest high-level-dungeon “”Naxxramas”", gamers could sometimes spot a cat running through this dungeon called “”Mr. Bigglesworth”". A clear pointer to Dr. Evil’s cat from the Austin Powers movies. In Un’Goro Crater there are two brothers called Larion and Muigin wearing plumbers’ clothing, a reference to the Nintendo characters Mario and Luigi. In Tanaris and Booty bay, there are Goblin engineers named Lafhorg and Scooty. An obvious reference to the Star Trek Chief Engineers Geordi Laforge and Scotty. The consumable Red Speckled Mushrooms are a clear image of the classic mushrooms in Mario. They even come with the same, small, slit-like eyes on the stalk. The “”Grand Master Engineer”" in the Zangarmarsh zone is called “”Mack Diver”" a very clear reference to MacGyver. In Stormwind, the cooking trainer is named Stephen Ryback and the cooking supplier is named Erika Tate. This is a direct reference to the movie “”Under Siege”" starring Steven Segal who played Casey Ryback and Erika Eleniak who played Jordan Tate. In the dungeon Uldaman, located in Bad Lands, you’ll meet three vikings called Erik, Baleog and Olaf. It’s a reference to the three vikings in the 1992 video-game The Lost Vikings. The Swamp of Sorrows is a reference to the Swamp of Sadness in the fantasy film, The Neverending Story In the Lower City there are characters named Adam Eternium and Oric Coe. This is a reference to He-Man of course Prince Adam of Eternia and his sidekick Orko. This character also has his “”Battle Tiger’ instead of Battle Cat. In the entrance to the Mana Tombs, there is a shady dealer by the name of “”Slim”". This is a reference to Eminem aka Slim Shady. One of the prizes for the Scarlet Monastery quest “”Into the Scarlet Monastery”" is the Sword of Omen. This is referenced to Lion-o’s Sword of Omens from Thundercats. Similarly to the Alliance battlemasters in the Lower City of Shattrath, amongst the Horde battlemasters is Keldor the Lost, a clear allusion to Skeletor, He-Man’s arch-foe, who’s original ‘human’ name was Keldor. He even comes complete with the purple tinged skin and goat skull staff. Further into the Undercity, in the War Quarter, there’s an honest to God Fight Club where you’ll find two NPC fighters named Edward and Tyler. This clearly references the film Fight Club. In the Badlands around the middle of the map is a semi-hidden crypt. Enter the crypt and you’ll see a decomposed guy sitting on a throne with a sword to his side. A clear allusion from the first Conan film. While fighting your way through the Deadmines to get VanCleef’s head you’ll encounter a Goblin Shredder. Take it down and look at the dashboard and you’ll see a familiar face: Kerrigan, The Zerg Queen from Starcraft: Brood War. She appears to be the ruler of the goblins as well. Other goblin shredders can be found in Stranglethorn Vale and Gadgetzan. A further movie allusion comes from Star Wars. In the Shimmering Flats, peek around a bit and you’ll find a goblin race team with a very familiar looking vehicle - Blizzard’s version of Sebulba’s podracer from Episode I. Do a little more exploring and you’ll also find a wrecked podracer which smacked into a canyon walls. Outside of Auberdine in Darkshore, a dwarf could be found named Glubber Bump. This is a reference to Forrest Gump (1994), when the shrimp company Forrest founds is called Bubba Gump. A quest given by Glubber is called “”Fruit of the Sea”" and Glubber details all the way you can cook crab. This is also from Forrest Gump when Bubba details all the way you can cook shrimp. In Un’Goro Crater there is a questgiver named Ringo who gives out a quest called “”With a Little Help From My Friends”". “”With A Little Help From My Friends is a song by The Beatles and Ringo Starr is a member of the Beatles In Sporaggar, Zangarmarsh, the Sporelings give a quest called “”We Want a Shrubery!!”". This is an obvious reference to the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975) in which the Knights Who Say Ni demand a shrubbery from King Arthur. Amberstill Ranch is where level 40 and 60 dwarves get there ram mounts. There is an actual Amberstill Ranch near San Diego, California. In the expansion there is a quest called “”The Kessel Run”" a reference to _Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) and the popular kessel run made by smugglers. In the expansion the griffin master in Blood Watch is named Laando after Lando Calrissian in Star Wars. In the expansion in the world?s end tavern in Shattrath City there is Harris Pilton with her dog Tinkerbell. Refering to Hilton millionaire Paris Hilton and her dog Tinkerbell. In The Barrens, there is a tombstone complete with a Spirit Healer, known as The Shrine of the Fallen Warrior. This is a shrine dedicated to Michael Koiter, a designer of World of Warcraft who died during development due to heart failure. In Hellfire Peninsula in the Temple of Telhamat, there is a NPC named Caregiver Ophera Windfury, in reference to the TV talk show host Oprah Winfrey. The bankers in Ironforge are named Barnum Stonemantle, Bailey Stonemantle, and Soleil Stonemantle. This is an obvious reference to the Barnum & Bailey and Cirque du Soleil circuses. The Innkeeper in Thrallmar [Hellfire] is called Floyd Pinkus and obvious reference to the band Pink Floyd. ”

What you’ll be doing in Wrath

”Over the past week we’ve run a couple of polls asking you all what classes and professions you plan to work on when Wrath hits store shelves this year. (At least we’re all hoping it’s this year. ) And how better to start off a new week than by looking back at the results! For classes, we have: Death Knight (18. 7%), Paladin (12. 9%), Hunter (11%), Druid (10. 2%), Mage (8. 8%), Shaman (8. 6%), Warrior (8%), Priest (8%), Warlock (7. 2%), and Rogue (6. 5%). Before you ask if the Paladin changes are really that good, I’m just going to jump right in and say yes, yes, yes. To my Paladin friends in the audience, happy days are here at last! To my Rogue friends in the audience, take heart in the fact that Rogues haven’t been fully reviewed (Blizzard seems to be making updates one class at a time), and there are probably changes still to come for the class. For professions, we have: Inscription (26. 6%), Engineering (14. 4%), Gathering (10. 9%), Blacksmithing (9. 7%), Tailoring (9. 2%), Alchemy (8. 6%), Leatherworking (7. 2%), Enchanting (6. 8%), and Jewelcrafting (6. 7%). It’s no surprise for either of these polls that the latest and greatest Wrath content is at the top of the list, but will it live up to the hype. Are you sticking with the old or diving right into the new. I’ll be sticking with my Shaman because I love it and it seems that the class is going to be getting a nice boost. And i’ll stick with the alchemy cos ppl always wneed pots. However, that inevitable Death Knight alt will give me a chance to try something very different and level up another profession. Effectively, I want to keep going with everything i’ve worked on, but a bit of variety is going to be fun as well! I’m a loyal priest, but I’m wondering if all we know so far is really all that is in store for us. I can’t imagine us surviving very long against all those nifty tricks the Death Knights will unleash at us. and most other classes will be constantly interrupting our heals, stunning us, knocking us back, etc. Hunters also seem to be getting a lot of great new abilities and talents, with the backward saltos and all that jibber jabber. What can I still hope for. mp3 players ” “BusinessWeek spent some time examining the indisputable success of our Blizzard overlords. At the very beginning of the article, BusinessWeek credits Blizzard’s mastery of gaming to the often-spoken, often-hated “”when it’s ready. “” In a quote from Jay Wilson, Blizzard says that if “”a product isn’t good enough, we cancel it. world of warcraft gold “” The BusinessWeek article talks a lot about the overwhelmingly involved culture of Blizzard employees. The developers play their own games, both on the clock and off the clock. Dedicated “”strike teams”" spend lunch cruising the games’ latest builds. wow Players in beta provide instant feedback, which executives and designers hungrily consume to make the best possible decisions. And if a game isn’t deemed “”fun enough,”" it’s sent off to black-can land, where it will never see the light of day. According to the article, though, Blizzard still plans on releasing a new expansion every year. wow gold This is in addition to Starcraft II and Diablo III. While we can obviously expect these games to show up “”when they’re ready,”" it paints a very active, competitive future for the Activision Blizzard group. The article does credit a new milestone for our beloved World of Warcraft. wow gold kaufen According to BusinessWeek, the subscriber base is now nearly 11 million. With the Recruit-a-Friend benefits, I hope we see this number grow to 12 million by the end of the year. Blizzard’s numbers are based on active (IE: first 30 days with a boxed copy, or current paid for subscription) accounts. wow power leveling Trial accounts and cancelled ones aren’t included (but ‘cancelled’ acutally means paid time is up).

Finding the light

“It’s a question on many officers’ minds right now: is 10 greater than 25? It’s a question that would send any math teacher into a rage-fueled lecture about integers and number lines. But as we know, leading a guild isn’t always about quantity — quality is important, too. With the ability in Wrath to see all of the expansion’s raiding content alongside just 9 other people, this question of numbers has become a legitimate issue. Some guilds who had success at the 25-player level may opt to keep it smaller this time around. One reader wants to know how to make the switch. Scott, I am an officer in what has been a fairly successful guild. We built a great team and led it from Kara, through SSC and most of TK, and into Hyjal and BT over the past several months. But the intense effort that it took to go so far in such a short time completely exhausted me and the other officers. Along those lines, we read with great interest Blizzard’s announcement to create a 10-man raiding scene. (I also note, although it might be inappropriate to do so on wowinsider, that a forum poll on mmo-champion about 10 vs 25 raiding resulted in many more people saying they were interested in the 10-man option, with lots of comments from leaders about similar burn-out!) I’d be interested to see an article about how to transition from a 25 man team, with its due share of slackers, whiners, and drama queens, to a slimmed down 10 man team of the “”cream of the crop,”" and then to still remain a somewhat hardcore, progression-oriented team. There are a lot of logistical and administrative tasks we keep coming up against. Are other guilds in this new position as well? How are they dealing with it? Thanks! Anonymous First things first: Let’s be realistic about this. Just because you’re only raiding with 10 people doesn’t mean you’ll never find yourself in a group with a slacker, whiner, or drama queen. It just means the odds are reduced. Likewise, raiding with 10 isn’t going to make all the logistical and administrative tasks disappear. It just means that these tasks will be easier to manage. Personally, I’ve always gotten more enjoyment and satisfaction from the smaller raids, and I was also thrilled to hear about this new — and complete — 10-player raiding path. To me the advantages are clear: Easier to recruit, schedule runs, and fill slots Easier to distribute loot — rolling on drops isn’t nearly as punishing to an individual Easier to diagnose problems after a wipe Easier to figure out who isn’t pulling their weight Easier for a tight-knit crew to make adjustments on the fly and react to each other’s split-second decisions Fewer people who may get lost in the instance or need the pulls/encounters explained Fewer AFKs, disconnects, emergencies, phone calls, smoke breaks, and bio breaks Fewer egos involved, which usually means less drama This is all, of course, theoretical and by no means assured. But I’ve found it to be generally true. The problem my guild has always had is that we don’t believe in attendance policies. As a result, even though we’re a very large guild, we often had problems fielding 25 quality players who were mostly on the ball. We had no choice but to take people that we knew weren’t prepared for a raid or that we knew might cause problems. You could speak to them later about shaping up, but there was no way to really enforce preparation and focus without punishing the guild as a whole. The next time you need a healer and that problem player is all you have, you’re either going to take them or you’re going to cancel the run. Sure you can recruit someone, and over the years we’ve recruited many, many players, but eventually in a guild like mine you’re going to need that person. If someone can attend a run regardless of how prepared they are, and they know that others will do enough to make up for their lack of effort, there’s no incentive to go the extra mile. The loot isn’t any less purple for someone who isn’t flasking. It made progression sporadic. One week we’d have a solid group and down a new boss or two. The next week we’d have a weak group and wipe six times on a boss we’ve already beaten. It was a real conundrum for us. We’re not the type of guild that kicks people based solely on performance. And so we’ve thought long and hard about how our raiding will shape up at level 80. We’re still working on our plan, but it will involve rewarding the most prepared and dedicated players with suddenly very limited raid slots on the progression team. Other members can raid, too, of course, but it will be a more relaxed raiding environment. That doesn’t mean everyone else can slack. Whether someone is on the progression team or not, we’re outlining a list of minimum tasks that someone must fulfill to be eligible to raid. With such a big guild, we’re betting that even slots for the nonprogression teams will be competitive. And we’re keeping our fingers crossed that it’s enough motivation for people to follow through with their promises. We know that we have enough people who are dedicated to raiding successfully that we’ll always be able to field ten. So unlike our 25-player raids in TBC, the incentive to excel will be there from the beginning. On the other hand, it sounds like the anonymous author of the e-mail above has just the opposite problem: she has too many good raiders! Now, the immediate and obvious “”solution”" to the problem would be to make two progression teams. Do you remember when Blizzard announced that 40-player raids were being eliminated in TBC? Guild leaders complained that the transition would be too difficult. Many people said, “”What’s the big deal? Just recruit 10 more people and run two teams. Problem solved.”" I might be wrong, but I don’t remember that particular strategy working out very well for anybody. Two teams means — even two 10-player teams — means double the tasks that I listed above, rather than less. In fact it’s actually worse than managing one team of 25. You’re splitting your raid IDs, ensuring that, on the second night in any given zone, you’re stuck with the same exact people no matter who is or isn’t available. In a bad week, both teams might be shorthanded on Night 2. You’ve got those five other people from your original 25 who could fill in, but that’s not a lot of wiggle room considering they might not be the right class or spec that you need. No, going into Wrath with 25 hardcore raiders and only running 10-player raids is probably not going to work. Before you reach that point, you have to cull your population. Let’s see how you can do it humanely. First of all, the timing of this process will be important. If you start now, you might find yourself shorthanded once everything plays out. You can’t ignore the fact that Warhammer Online is launching next month. Odds are a lot of Warcraft players are going to try it out. It’s impossible to say at this point if they’ll come back to WoW or not. Age of Conan didn’t exactly win over the hearts and minds of the average MMO player. But any new MMO could potentially dent WoW’s population. Somebody has to eventually, right? So I’d hold off on trying to reduce your team until the expansion is much closer than it is now. At that point, the first step is to ask everybody on your raiding team if they will in fact be raiding in Wrath. Some may not want to. Some may have major life changes on the horizon that will prevent them from putting in the time. Odds are not every single member will be able to dedicate the same time and effort that they are today. Next, announce that you’ll be scaling back to 10-player raiding. If you’ve already identified some people who aren’t coming back, it’ll make this decision easier for your members to accept. Talk to your members about the stress and the burnout among the officers, and they’ll hopefully be more sympathetic and less angry. A few, however, may decide that they really want to raid in the 25-player path. So you could lose a few more from the team this way. Now, take a good hard look at everyone who’s left. Figure out who the “”slackers, whiners, and drama queens”" are. Talk to your fellow officers and find out if there are any particular members that the leadership collectively has concerns about or just doesn’t want to deal with in the future. Conduct private talks with those members you want to let go. Thank them for their efforts and inform them respectfully that there won’t be a slot for them in the smaller raids. I recommend that you do not volunteer any particular reasons for this decision unless they ask you to. Some will probably already know why. For them, going over the laundry list of reasons will just add insult to injury. After all this, you could be down to 12-15 people, and that’s a more reasonable number to start off with. Once the expansion launches, people may weed themselves out. They might start leveling and realize they’re just sick to death of the game. Or maybe they’ll hate the way their class plays post-70 and reroll. Plus, your members are going to level up and gear up at different paces, so having more than 10 gives you a comfort zone where you won’t have to make everyone wait for that one slow leveler. Anyone who rerolls as a Death Knight is much more likely to lag behind. You’ll want to have one eventually, but you won’t have to wait on that person before you set foot in Naxxramas. In the end, having more quality people than you have slots to fill is a great problem for an officer or raid leader to have. Trust me on this: It’s far better than not having enough! ”

Fans create a petition for a live stream of BlizzCon

“A Hungarian site about Starcraft has put together a petition that a lot of folks who weren’t able to grab BlizzCon tickets will probably want to sign: they’re asking for Blizzard to create a live Internet stream of BlizzCon. Of course, DirecTV will be streaming the whole show (for a price, of course) on television in the US, but Blizzard fans in Europe and elsewhere have no such luck. To tell the truth, we’re not sure why Blizzard made this deal with DirecTV — well, to be fair, we know why (to make more money), but they did provide a live stream of the Worldwide Invitational in Paris, and while sure, there were occasional problems, it worked far better than I ever expected it to. Why Blizzard didn’t just upgrade the servers and send the stream of BlizzCon out into the world for free (as much as DirecTV wouldn’t like it) is a good question. The petition has already 1800 signatures as of this writing (more, we’ll note, than the actual number of tickets sold to BlizzCon of course Blizzard has sold thousands of tickets, not hundreds. Sorry about that. ), and we’re sure it’ll be way more than that soon. It’s likely that Blizzard has tied themselves down by selling the rights to stream the show to DirecTV, but you never know — maybe a groundswell of public support for an internet stream will make them reconsider. The Live Stream from the WWI, especially during the D3 reveal was HORRID. The infrastructure was not there to support the amount of people that tried to access it. Imagine how it will be now that even more will want to access it. Good, real-time streams are very hard to accomodate. Stickam and Ustream fold under at a couple thousand viewers. And that is not more than were sold for Blizzcon. Blizzcon was like 12,000. Hell the lottery ticket allotment was almost twice the number of signatures. You won’t get it, if you did, the entire DirectTV deal would be off, and your anger does not directly translate into lost dollars. Who would honestly quit playing over this. Nobody, simple as that. They’re getting paid for the DirectTV deal, and DirectTV would not accept Blizzard providing a live stream as well, that just wouldn’t make any sense. The fact that non-US viewers cannot watch it is unfortunate, but to release a stream for non-US viewers would take away from DirectTV’s profits, and would be unacceptable. Licensing arrangements are complex things, and I have no doubt that’s preventing other companies from broadcasting the event outside of the US. Having said that if you want live coverage, we’ll be doing it in great detail over at WoW Radio, bringing you all the panels, announcements and special guests via shoutcast as they happen, and podcasting via RSS for those who miss it. As to why we aren’t doing video, we feel it’s best to stick to what we’re best at, and live video is a notoriously hard thing to do as well as being way outside of our budget for the level of quality we’d want to put out. buy wow gold Reply 118-25-2008 @ 4:41PM nate said. mp3 players The WWI Feed did not work at all. And with Blizzcon, you’re going to end up with even more viewers. Stickam and Ustream fold under just barely a couple thousand viewers. world of warcraft gold Live streaming is very hard to keep up and running smoothly. And as was pointed out, this signatures area fraction of the tickets sold for Blizzcon. Do some simple research before posting a story. wow gold We’re seeing a lot of hasty posting on WoW Insider lately. The potential of Arena points for Wintergrasp

“A new spell popped up in the latest Beta build called Wintergrasp Rewards, which indicate that there might finally be another way to earn Arena points other than to participate in Arenas. Granting Arena points through Lake Wintergrasp also indicates an interesting direction for World of Warcraft PvP. Despite the ongoing and earnest efforts of Blizzard to balance classes for PvP, particularly Arenas, the format doesn’t lend itself well to a complete balancing of classes. Because of the required team synergies and map limitations, there will always be class specs that will suffer in the Arena PvP format. Battlegrounds PvP, on the other hand, is more open and spontaneous, even in pre-formed groups. No classes or specs are shunned, and every player enjoys relative viability and success. Giving Arena points through Wintergrasp achieves two things: first, it opens up Arena rewards to people who do not participate in or have limited success in Arenas; second, it greatly incentivizes participation in Lake Wintergrasp. The only question left is the matter of Personal Ratings, which is a requirement for most of the current gear, a trend likely to continue in Wrath of the Lich King. Granting both Honor and Arena points for World PvP is an interesting twist to an otherwise lackluster aspect of the game. One thing I mentioned in an analysis of Lake Wintergrasp was that it needed to be compelling enough for repeated participation, and awarding Arena points are a step towards that. Currently, the zone awards 150 Arena points for a win, along with substantial Honor. The rewards seem fairly large now (including 7500 Honor) but it’s highly likely that the numbers will be tweaked and balanced before Wrath goes live. It’s also important to note that Level 80 PvP rewards are also likely to cost substantially more points. Arena points from Lake Wintergrasp is but a small step towards making World PvP compelling, however. Aside from Arena points, which is mere currency, there need to be equally appealing rewards that are only obtainable through the Battleground. These include, but shouldn’t be limited to, titles and vanity gear. Putting gear that isn’t necessarily optimal for PvE but appealing even for PvE players might be a good way to spark interest in a World PvP Battleground, such as vanity pets. There is no vanity pet obtainable through PvP, although I’ve often wished for one, maybe with an appropriate Arena rating requirement that doesn’t decay through Seasons and appropriately high enough — maybe 2100 — to ensure rarity. The important thing about the revelation of this reward mechanic is how open Blizzard is into exploring options for players. If these measures make it all the way through release, it means that players will have access to Arena gear without having to participate in rated Arena matches. It will also mean that Arena points can be calculated in real time, rather than weekly. It will be interesting to see how Blizzard will handle the conversion or carry-over of Arena points through Level 80 as well as the implementation of Arena Ratings outside of Arena play. With small details being put into the development of Lake Wintergrasp, I’m just a little more excited to see how it finally turns out when everything is finally in place. ” “Alice Taylor has quite the eye for scoping out awesome gaming crafts, and just recently, she did a nice roundup (and another post) that had two great handmade WoW items in it. cheap wow gold First up was this great-looking Sin’dorei (that’s Blood Elf, in case you’re not up on your Thalassian) tank top — it was originally a T-shirt that the maker, smarmyclothes, turned into a tank top with some industrious cutting and stiching. Looks great — at $52, the price is a little steep, but then again, this is a one-of-a-kind handmade item, so you get what you pay for. And second was this Murky hair bow — to tell the truth, I have no idea what a hair bow does (it must tie hair back or something, right. mp3 players ), but I am a huge Murky fan, or at least a fan of /punting the little guy, so any article of clothing with him on it, no matter what it’s for, gets my approval. The bows are two for $11, and it looks like there’s only one in stock, so SugarPopRibbons is probably making them to order. But I’m sure if you’re patient, you can get your hands (or hair, I guess) on one Be careful what you ask for Amidst all the excitement surrounding the coming of Wrath and the beta testing revelations, I have a question. world of warcraft gold Does anybody care that Death Knights will be OP. I disagree with my fellow bloggers when they surmise that the upcoming Wrath world will not be overpopulated by Death Knights. On the contrary, I think you won’t be able to sneeze without three Death Knights around you to say Gesundheit. wow gold And what’s more I think they won’t be a flash-in-the-pan like the Blood Elves and Draenei overpopulations were. I believe this because I hate tanking and have never liked playing melee classes (my main is an elemental shaman and my highest alt is a warlock) and yet I’m having HUGE fun in the beta realm playing a Death Knight. I’ve played the class PvE to level 65, trying all three specs multiple times. wow gold I no longer fear dueling. I solo group quests that are above my level. I can approach elites one level higher than myself, alone and with no fear. wow gold kaufen I just run into a group of mobs with little strategy and almost always survive.

Champion of the Naaru Guide

”That has a pretty nice ring, doesn’t it. The CotN title is awarded to people who have completed the (now-unnecessary) attunement quests for Serpentshrine Cavern and The Eye. Both of those raids are Tier 5 raid dungeons, so they are the next step after Karazhan, Magtheridon and Gruul’s Lair. I’ve mentioned before that I am working towards this title on my warlock (roughly about 75% done), and I plan to present getting this title as a challenge to my Alliance guild as well, as we are currently preparing to do 25-mans. Achieving the title requires the completion of several somewhat lengthy quest lines. At a glance, the quest lines include several quests in Shadowmoon Valley (both solo and group), several Heroic dungeons - Slave Pens, Arcatraz, Shattered Halls, Shadow Labs, and Steamvault - as well as kills of Nightbane, Gruul, and Magtheridon. I’ve broken the quest lines into the different legs below, showing where each leg starts and what quests are required. I’ll also comment as needed, giving hints and advice on the quests. It should also be noted at the CotN title will most likely not be available after WotLK is released, so if you want to get it, make sure to do so while you have the chance. Furthermore, the majority of the group/raid quests are PUG-able on most servers, so even if you aren’t in a raiding guild you could probably still obtain the title. Shadowmoon Valley - Killing Elementals Quest leg starts with: The Hand of Gul’dan (Alliance, Horde) Quest giver: Alliance, Horde The first leg starts in Shadowmoon Valley. One of the druids near the Hand of Gul’dan asks you to kill several elementals around the zone. When you’ve completed those three quests, he sends you to find Oronok Torn-heart, in the north part of SMV. When you get to Oronok, he sends you to do a couple of quests, including I Was A Lot Of Things…, which may be the most fun you ever have in the World of Warcraft (and I’ll let you decide if I’m being sarcastic or not there =D ).

Once you have completed the two quests for Oronok, he asks you to find his three sons, who were each trying to recover a fragment of the Cipher of Damnation. At this point, the quest line splits into three separate chains as you go searching for the three sons. These chains can be done in any order, but I’ll list them in the order the game refers to them. wow gold Also, everything up to this point is completely soloable. A group would probably speed things up in places, but it’s definitely not required. The First Son, Grom’tor (NPC Location) Quest Line starts with: Grom’tor, Son of Oronok Quest giver: Oronok Torn-heart The first son’s quest chain is short and fairly easy. It can also be completed solo without any trouble. wow gold When you find Grom’tor, he sends you to Coilskar Point to find the Fragment in a chest, which you open with a key from the naga in the area. When you have the Fragment, return to Grom’tor and he will pack it up for you to take back to Oronok. If you want to minimize travel time, just hold onto the lockbox he gave you while you do the other two sons’ quest lines, and take all three back to Oronok at the same time. The Second Son, Artor (NPC Location) Quest Line starts with: Artor, Son of Oronok Quest giver: Oronok Torn-heart Continues with: Lohn’goron, Bow of the Torn-heart Quest giver: Spirit of Artor The second son is found in Illidari Point in southern SMV. mp3 He has been killed by the demons and your first quest is to free his body from their enslavement. Once you’ve done that, his spirit spawns and asks you to find his bow by killing some of the demons around the Point. He then gives you a spirit companion to summons a special demon called Veneratus the Many, who drops the Fragment when he is killed.

wow gold Once again, Ar’tor will give you the Fragment to take back to Oronok, but you can hold on to it until you’ve completed all three sons’ quests. This quest line is also soloable, but it should be noted that having a flying mount will help tremendously with getting in and out of Illidari Point. The Third Son, Borak (NPC Location) Quest line starts with: Borak, Son of Oronok Quest giver: Oronok Torn-heart The longest and most difficult quest line of the three sons, Borak’s leg involves completing a couple of quests in SMV, heading to Shattrath briefly, and then coming back to SMV for more quests. The first quests in the chain can be soloed, but the last quest requires a group, as you are to kill Ruul the Darkener, a 71 elite. buy wow gold If you have already completed the quests for the other two sons, then keep your group together because the next step in the main quest line also requires a group. The Firelord Quest line starts with: The Cipher of Damnation Quest giver: Quest giver: Oronok Torn-heart Once you have completed all three sons’ quest lines, head back to Oronok with the three Fragments. He will bind them together and give you the restored Cipher of Damnation. Head to Gul’dan’s altar, where you got the first few quests to kill elementals, and use the Cipher to summon Cyrukh the Firelord. wow gold He is a 72 elite, and a fairly tough kill, but you should have no trouble with a full group of 5.RELATED LINKS:

WotLK Info

”If you’re looking for the latest WotLK news, there’s a huge thread on the WoW forums, compiled by one of the MVPs, that has just about every single tidbit we know so far. Here are some of my favorite excerpts. New Zone: Northrend This area will have two points of entry - Borean Tundra and Howling Fjord. To travel between these two zones, a “turtle ship” will be introduced: “a giant turtle with a deck mounted on top of its shell” Borean Tundra: Alliance - brand new stronghold with a new leader; giant steam ship; stronghold gearing up to take on Arthas in the Icecrown Citadel; Horde - enter into Warsong Fortress, under the command of Grom Hellscream’s son - “huge and epic” Howling Fjord: Alliance - enter by boat through the Fjord walls, arrive in the middle of a big battle; Horde - arrive in an area with brand new Forsaken architecture I can’t wait to see the big battle that you arrive in the middle of in Howling Fjord. The battle on the steps of the Dark Portal, that you see as you come through for the first time, was one of the iconic BC images for me. I also really enjoyed the Garrosh Hellscream quest line in Nagrand, and being able to see him at the helm of the Horde forces in Northrend will be great. Lake Wintergrasp An outdoor region devoted entirely to PvP. Within this region siege engines will be available, as well as in the new battleground (name unreleased). There is speculation that siege engines will be available in all battlegrounds, but clarification is needed. An entire zone devoted to PvP sounds like a blast. It sounds like what Blizzard tried to do with Halaa, but hopefully the rewards from Lake Wintergrasp will be good enough to encourage people to actually do it.

I also can’t wait to see how the siege engines are implemented. Is it just me or are things starting to sound a little Halo-ish. New Class: Death Knight: In order to unlock this class, a player must have a character of at least level 55. The Death Knights (as of now) will be completing specific quests tailored for them when they first start out that will explain the character’s defection, etc. They will start off in a floating necropolis in the EPL, then do quests in their own (new) area within EPL that will explain the mechanics and storyline. Update: Knights of the Ebon Hand is a new order that has been created for the Death Knights, probably in line with reintroducing (or rehabilitating) them into the world. wow gold As such, the Death Knight home in the new Plaguelands area is called Ebon Hold and this, presumably, is where the Death Knight trainers will be. I love the whole idea of the Death Knight class. The lore, the gameplay, the look, it’s just all very good. wow gold And being a spell-casting, plate wearing, dps-tanking, evil fiend. That’s just awesome. It’s kinda like a Paladin of the Dark. wow power leveling If you think I haven’t already got a level one toon on my realm holding the name I want for my DK, then you’re crazy. In fact, I have two. Because I might need one for each faction. New Caverns of Time instance (The new Caverns of Time instance will take you back to Warcraft 3 Stratholme. mp3 players You will fight with Arthas (not against) to burn houses in Stratholme in an effort to “cleanse” the village from the Undead (or soon to be Undead). It has also been said we’ll see more what the Bronze Dragonflight is up to.

The lore angle of this instance is that you will meet Arthas when he was still good yet here you are burning houses. wow gold Caverns of Time Stratholme will be a five-player level 80 instance. Mal’ganis will be the final boss of this instance.) That’s going to be incredible. Being able to explore the moral dilemma of doing something terrible for the greater good (we hope) is going to be great, but being able to do it beside Arthas, before he turned, is just going to be epic. Upcoming Character Class Changes Warriors - Titan Grip: Fury; ability to dual-wield two-handed weapons Warlocks - - Demon Form: Demonology; demon form where warlocks can spam AoE shadowbolts; Update: 360% armor; demon abilities include: charge, shadowbolt, fire AoE, fear, and multiple-enemy attacks Warrior - Chances of my being a tank in WotLK just decreased by roughly 1000%. wow gold Warlock - AoE shadowbolt spam coupled with 360% armor. Maybe my warlock can be my tank for the next expansion. There’s tons more info in that thread, so go give it a read when you have a chance. Also, in case you missed it, Blizzard released their own WotLK talent calculators.RELATED LINKS:

Champion of the Naaru Guide, Pt 2

”Picking up where we left off, you just received a letter from Khadgar in Shattrath. I’m going to spoil the surprise and tell you what’s in the letter: He wants you to come talk to him. And when you do, all he says is you need to talk to A’dal. Who is two feet away. Why A’dal was too busy to send his own letter I don’t know. Maybe supreme beings of the Light don’t like to use the mail. I’m sure he has his reasons. Anyhoo, A’dal will now give you three quests to do. They can be completed in any order, and when you have all three done, he will give you one more. Separate from A’dal’s quests, there is also another quest that you must do to obtain the CotN title. This quest is picked up from a naga in Heroic Slave Pens, and can be completed independently from A’dal’s quests. I’ll discuss A’dal’s quests first and then talk about the other one. Trials of the Naaru The first three Trials of the Naaru are Strength, Mercy and Tenacity. Trial of the Naaru: Strength - The Strength trial is pretty straightforward. You have to clear Shadow Labs and Steamvaults, both on Heroic, and loot an item from the last boss of each. Trial of the Naaru: Mercy - The Mercy trial gets a bit more complicated. It requires you to clear Heroic Shattered Halls and then kill the Shattered Hand Executioner, who is located behind Kargath Bladefist, the last boss of the instance. The tricky part is that you are on a timer - a 55 minute countdown begins as you leave the room of the 1st boss (the Warlock) that leads to the execution of the first hostage. wow gold However, despite the quest text saying “not one drop of blood” on the axe, you can still complete the quest if you just save the third hostage.

So you actually have 85 minutes to complete the dungeon (55 + 15 + 15). Trial of the Naaru: Tenacity - The Tenacity trial is also a bit complicated. It essentially requires you to clear Heroic Arcatraz, but with a twist. wow gold Millhouse Manastorm, who spawns during the Harbinger Skyriss event from the second prison, must be kept alive throughout the entire event. He brings a good bit of DPS to the fight, so keeping him alive, if possible, is always a good strategy, but this time he must survive to complete the quest. After you have completed all three of these quests, A’dal will give you the final Trial. Trial of the Naaru: Magtheridon - This Trial is just what it sounds like: go kill Magtheridon and you’re done here. The Cudgel of Kar’desh The Cudgel of Kar’desh - The Cudgel of Kar’desh is the last quest needed for the CotN title. The quest is started by Skar’this the Heretic, who is imprisoned in the Slave Pens, shortly after the first boss (and he only appears in Heroic). wow This quest requires you to kill Gruul the Dragonkiller in Blade’s Edge Mountains, and Nightbane in Karazhan, and loot an item from each. This quest is also completely independent of the Trials, and can be picked up and completed at any point once you’re level 70. Once you’ve turned in both the Magtheridon and the Cudgel quests, you are awarded the Champion of the Naaru title! ” “Just about everyone who played WoW before BC came out remembers the huge, huge jump in gear quality that came with the Outlands. Nearly every piece of gear that I had on my warrior was replaced by the time I was done questing in HFP, and even my GM sword was replaced around level 65. wow gold (Just in case you’re curious, the Mag’hari Fury Brand was the replacement.) Blizzard has said they don’t expect the Wrath gear jump to be quite so big, but I’m curious as to what exactly we can expect.

So, now that we’ve got some good data coming in from the Beta, let’s take a look at some Northrend starting-quest greens and see how they compare to the current gear available. Melee Weapons Here’s a selection of weapons available in BC from each of the level Tiers: T4 - Spiteblade - 87.6 DPS T5 - Netherbane - 96.5 DPS T6 - Blade of Infamy - 100.2 DPS SWP (T6.5) - Hand of the Deceiver - 114.4 DPS And now let’s take a look at some of the Green quest rewards from the starting Northrend zones. Coldstone Cutlass - 84.8 DPS Ice-Rimed Dagger - 84.6 DPS And then here is a Blue drop from one of the bosses in Utgarde Keep, which is the first dungeon that players in Northrend will encounter (the equivalent of Ramparts in HFP). Arm Blade of Augelmir - 99.8 DPS So just looking at the raw weapon DPS, the starting quest Greens are essentially equal to T4 weapons, and the Blue dungeon drop is better than T5 and just a shade under T6. The exact stats on the weapon will make them more or less valuable to certain classes/specs, but the DPS level is generally a solid indicator of the weapon’s value. Caster Weapons Now let’s look at some caster weapons. mp3 player The best stat to look at here to compare item quality is Spellpower. From BC: T4 - Nathrezim Mindblade - 203 SP T5 - Fang of the Leviathan - 221 SP T6 - Tempest of Chaos - 259 SP SWP (T6.5) - Sunflare - 292 SP And now some starter quest Greens from Northrend: Vicious Spellblade - 168 SP Pacifying Pummeler - 173 SP And a Blue drop from Utgarde Keep: Keleseth’s Blade of Evocation - 233 SP So again with the caster weapons, we see that the starter Greens are a bit below T4 in quality, while the Blue drop is in between T5 and T6. Again, some classes/specs will value the other stats differently (such as Spell Hit and Crit), but the spellpower is a pretty solid indicator of the item’s value. So What’s All This Mean. wow gold From looking at those numbers, it’s possible to make several estimates about the gear coming in WotLK.RELATED LINKS:
